We hope the answers are insightful enough to give you a clear idea about our intent, process, timings, and other details. Frequently Asked Questions
MHFA certification training programs are designed for all Canadians. No medical background is required. Participants for all courses must be 18 years of age at the time of training.
By successfully completing this training, you will be better equipped to have productive conversations about mental health and substance use. The training helps bridge the gap between crisis and professional support.
It is proven that one of the best indicators for mental health recovery is early intervention with professional support. MHFA is designed to be the first step in seeking professional help for mental health.
Basic Certification takes 12 hours, usually offered over two days.
At this time, there is no set recertification schedule. It is recommended to take a refresher class every three years.
Yes! We are happy to work with our clients to develop training strategies that work within their budgets.
All you need for the MHFA training is a notebook, pen/pencil, and maybe a highlighter. All other materials are provided.
Laptops or tablets are not recommended for the course. However, exceptions can be made for participants who require technology as part of their accessibility needs for the training.
Unless otherwise stated in the course description, participants are responsible for their own food and beverages while in Elevation training sessions. Snacks and beverages are permitted in the classrooms. Please be advised that no heating, cooling, or cooking facility is available.
We understand that sometimes things come up and you’re not able to attend both days of the course. A reasonable effort will be made to fit you into another training program within six months. Kindly note that this could involve traveling to another workshop at a different location than the original training. Refunds will not be issued for partial attendance.
Please note that missing portions of the course for whatever reason will be considered incomplete, and no certification will be awarded.
If you have signed up for a course and need to cancel for any reason, a full refund will be issued up until five days prior to training. The payment is refunded in the same way it was made (credit card, pay pal, gift certificate).
